These three minerals are usually found in every specimen but some specimens have been known to have 100% of one or the other. It is often hard to spot the difference between the three minerals in hand samples of this stone. Apatite has a hardness 5 on the Mohs scale (Mohs).
Stone Cares: Apatite is fragile and very sensitive to chemicals, abrasives, heat, acids, and ammonia. Never use a steamer, hot water or ultrasonic cleaners with this stone. Use mild soap and room temperature tap water with a soft cloth so you do not scratch the surface or diminish the luster of the stone.
Birthstone: Apatite is not a traditional birthstone but is recognized as a natural birthstone for specific periods based on its color. Blue Apatite is considered a natural birthstone for those born between February 19 and March 19, a time associated with the approach of spring and new life. It is also noted as an alternative birthstone for individuals born in June, where its vibrant blue color symbolizes wisdom, clarity, and personal growth.

What is 925 Sterling silver?
Sterling silver .925 refers to the metal alloy created by blending pure silver with copper or another metal. Pure silver is non-reactive but blending it with copper makes it more susceptible to change. This means it is prone to tarnishing, so metals other than copper can be used to reduce tarnishing. This is why you see Sterling silver being stamped .925.
Sterling Silver earrings hypoallergenic?
Our Sterling silver using for earring is hypoallergenic and nonreactive. Both pure silver and copper (the most common alloy in Sterling Silver) are pure metals which will not create allergic reactions.
Does Sterling Silver tarnish?
Yes, over time Sterling silver will tarnish because of the presence of copper. However, tarnishing will not ruin your silver pieces. How do you define tarnish? Tarnishing is discoloration on a metal from the exposure to ozone or sulfur.
How do I polish or clean Sterling Silver?
When a silver polishing cloth doesn’t do the trick we have some easy ways to clean your jewelry. If you’re not in a pinch or hoping to wear your jewelry that moment you can use silver jewelry dip, a tarnish remover cream, or heavy duty polishing cloth.
Can Sterling Silver get wet?
Yes, it can get wet. Water will not ruin Sterling Silver. However, the more often it gets wet the faster it tarnishes. As we’ve covered, tarnishing isn’t actually as bad as it seems. But if you’re not a fan of constantly cleaning and polishing your jewelry then keep it low maintenance by avoiding water when possible. Pro-tip: avoid corrosive agents present in hot tub or ocean water.
Sterling Silver vs Silver
Sterling silver as we’ve learned is actually 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metal alloys like copper. Pure silver is simply too soft to make jewelry out of. Blending pure silver with other metal alloys strengthens the metal and makes it ideal for jewelry.
Sterling Silver vs Stainless Steel
Stainless steel and sterling silver are both alloy metals. They’re both a combination of several other metals. Stainless steel is both corrosion and scratch-resistant. Sterling silver is a more elegant option (in color and feel) for jewelry and is more lightweight compared to stainless steel. Sterling silver also holds more value compared to stainless steel as it is a precious metal.

- Avoid wearing with excessive water or steam contact. Always remove your jewelry before swimming, bathing, doing household chores or using abrasive cleaners.
- Avoid wearing during any sport for personal safety reasons.
- Avoid spray perfume, hairspray or all types of make-up, as well as coming in contact with cleaning products in case of de-coloring the materials. Or even better, always put your jewelry on last when getting dressed. Please note that chlorine is especially damaging to jewelry.
- Avoid heat and overexposure to the sun. Some gemstones like Amethyst, Citrine, Smoky Quart etc. can have color fade on direct sunlight or heat exposure.
- When your jewelry is not being worn, the presentation packaging will keep your items clean and safe. Store jewelry separately so that pieces do not tangle, rub or scratch against each other. Make sure your jewelry is completely dry before storing.

- With proper care, your sterling silver jewelry will last a long time.
Gemstone Care
- If you see any white spots on your gemstone, don't worry! It's just from where it was touched and can be easily removed by rubbing it with your fingers and "oiling" it.
